Scientists and futurists believe that in 20-30 years’ time there will be microscopic devices that will fight against dangerous diseases and slow aging. In other words, they might make man immortal. These mechanisms are called nanobots and will be injected into our bodies.
One of the experts, Ray Kurzweil, says that anyone alive till 2040 will be able to take advantage of nanotechnology. Combined with biotechnology, it might give people a chance to overcome cancer, obesity and diabetes. Moreover, it will prolong life and eliminate other health problems connected with aging.
Nanobots will examine our cells and organs and simply fix any damages. In case of fractures, recovery will be faster and painless. If nanobots could be mixed with blood, the results would be simply amazing, with wounds able to be cured almost instantly. In addition, nanotechnology will help us restore some memories in case of a head trauma.
In fact, nanotechnology is already in use. Researchers at MIT use it in their fight against ovarian cancer, one of the most deadly diseases facing women. Scientists from the UK are on their way to find a method to wipe out inoperable tumours. All of this progress is possible due to the use of nanoparticles.
This may seem like the stuff of fantasy, but Kurzweil is deeply convinced that it’s only a matter of time before the scientists are successful. According to him, in 2030 people will be adding more years to their life expectancy than they lose with the passage of time. However, the scientist emphasizes some risks of nanotechnology. Nanobots will be able to self-replicate, which would be dangerous for humans and need careful control by scientists. That’s why Kurzweil advises scientists to pay attention not only to the benefits but to the dangers that nanotechnology brings.
i feel like they should let humans live naturally but then i think that nature itself is changing and bringing surprises at our doorstep so it is only plausible that we step up our game to survive. i am still confused
